The Creative Calligraphers of
Citrus Springs meet on the second Thursday of each month, October
through May, from 1 PM to 3 PM at the Citrus Springs Memorial Library.
Our purpose is to learn about calligraphy and related subjects and share
new ideas and techniques. We welcome beginners and all letter, book, and
paper artists. Guests are always welcome. |

Welcome!
We
are excited about another year of fun, creativity, and learning.
Each month, members will create a lettered piece to develop and
use lettering skills. During the weeks between the meetings,
they will create a project (such as a card or a dimensional
project) and bring it to the next meeting for “Show and Tell”.
The projects will then go on display in the showcase at the
library. Additionally, a half hour or so will be devoted to
working on a specific, sometimes new, hand and practicing the
lettering of that hand. We will be devoting two months for each
of three hands this year. |

Next Monthly Meeting - Thursday
May 10,
2012
Practice Session:
Members will practice Foundational Hand at 12:30 PM. Lorna Eastman
will provide ductus sheets to indicate the sequence of strokes for
capital letters for those who do not have a copy.
Program Presenter: Lorna Eastman will
present a program on Mandalas, an achetypal, age-old
symbol of intrinsic power. As one creates and
meditates on a mandala, it's believed that the
person becomes aware of the spiritual center at the
heart of oneself-- and in all of existence. (source:
Mandala in Nature by Sophia Waleyla) Materials:
Please bring crayons/colored pencils/markers,
scissors, paper, embellishments like trim, etc for
the Mandala Program. You may wish to encircle your
Mandala with a quote or words in calligraphy.
Refreshments: Since this is our last
calligraphy meeting before we break for the summer
months, we will enjoy light refreshments during the
program. Punch will be served. Members may bring a
plate of light "finger foods" to share.
Please remember to bring calligraphy pieces for the exhibit in
the library display case.
